… all photographs are self portraits- Minor White

Photographers see.  Yet sight is intimately bonded to light. We photograph what is seen; we see what is illuminated.  Not only is photography integrally dependent on the presence of light in our world, light has a truly beautiful nature of its own. Waves. Particles.  Electromagnetic Radiation.  Reflection.  Refraction.  Photons.  Spectrum.  Coherence. Interference. Here, light itself becomes the photographic subject.

However, light is not black and white.  The visible spectrum consists of vibrant and energetic colors.  It seems almost backwards that complete darkness is required for any of these stunning colors to dance in the image. Even so, it was in the inky dark, as laser light waves ran together and interfered across the photographic plane that I realized light is more than just a way my passions are manifested.

I am a photographer.  I am an optical physicist.  I run in the sunlight. I dance in the spotlights.  I am a child of the Light of the World.

My name means light.
